Sparkill, N.Y. (12/15/12) The Dominican College men's basketball squad extended their winning streak to six games and improved to 9-2 overall after defeating St. Thomas Aquinas College, 78-70, this afternoon in a game played at Aquinas Hall.

Senior center Cory Quimby* (Otisville, N.Y.) led four players in double figures with 21 points (10-20 from the floor) and recorded his seventh double-double of the season with a game leading 12 rebounds. He also added three blocks and three assists.
Junior guard Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) added 12 points, while Johnathan Brown (Central Islip, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 11 points, shooting 5-5 from the charity stripe.
Guard Leon Porter II (Laurel, Md.) netted 10 points, four rebounds and three assists in the victory. Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, Md.) scored nine points and six rebounds.
The Chargers never trailed in the contest and held a seven point lead (9-2) just 2:20 into the contest. A 5-0 DC run, as Porter hit a three-point basket and A.J. Burton (New Rochelle, N.Y.) followed with a jumper, with 12:10 left in the first half extended the lead to 26-14 and a layup by Woods closed out the half and made the score 45-32.
Dominican led by as many as seventeen points in the second stanza as Quimby scored a layup to make the score 75-58 with under three minutes to go. The Spartans closed out the game with a 10-3 run for the final 78-70 score.
DC returns to action on Wednesday, January 2nd when they host the 7th Annual James Clancy Memorial Tournament on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
