MEN'S BASKETBALL EXTEND WINNING STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER NYACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/31/13) The Dominican College men's basketball team extended their winning streak five games after defeating the Nyack College Warriors, 80-65, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/31/13) The Dominican College men's basketball team extended their winning streak five games after defeating the Nyack College Warriors, 80-65, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
The game was tied at 31-31, the fourth tie score of the half, when sophomore Nick Smith (Middletown, N.Y.) went on a 4-0 run for the Chargers to close out the first half and give DC a 35-31 lead.
Senior Leon Porter II (Laurel, Md.) and Smith paced the Chargers in the first half with 10 points a-piece.
Dominican led 50-47 with 12:49 to play when the team went on a 16-2 tear, with Smith accounting for the last four points of the run to extend their lead to 17 points (66-49) and eventually led by as many as 20 points twice in the remaining six minutes en route to the 80-65 victory.
Smith led three Chargers in double figures with 22 points (9-11 from the floor) and added five rebounds off the bench.
Porter finished with 20 points and four assists, while Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored 14 points, all from the three point arc.
Senior Cory Quimby* (Otisville, N.Y.) had a career high six assists to go along with nine points and a game leading nine rebounds in the win.
With the victory Dominican improves to 18-3 overall and 12-1 in conference play.
DC is back in action on February 6th as they host Post University.
