MEN'S BASKETBALL CHARGES PAST GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE

(2/16/13) The Dominican College men's basketball team reached the 20-win plateau today as they charged past the visiting Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, 89-69, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the win, DC improves to 20-5 overall and 14-3 in CACC play.

Before the game, the team honored seniors #1 Leon Porter II (Laurel, Md.), #4 Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, Md.), #5 Preston Smith* (Mays Landing, N.J.), #20 Gerald Hill (Baltimore, Md.), #23 Tyler Stradford (Staten Island, N.Y.) and #44 Cory Quimby* (Otisville, N.Y.)
Dominican never trailed in the game and went on a 12-0 run to turn a 6-6 score into a 21-9 advantage with 10:19 remaining in the first half. The Chargers led by as many as 22 points (42-20) and cruised into the break with a 42-22 lead.
In the second half, the lead never dropped below 15 points as the Chargers went on to the 89-69 win.
Dominican shot 48.6% (35-72) from the floor in the game.
Porter led all scorers and four Chargers in double figures with 19 points, while adding a team leading five assists and five rebounds.
Woods, Quimby and junior guard Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) each netted 11 points in the win, with Quimby adding a team high seven rebounds.
DC will wrap up the regular season on the road at Nyack College next Tuesday night.
