(3/8/13) The Philadelphia University men's basketball team edged the Dominican College Chargers, 71-68, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Semi-Final game played at the University of the Sciences. With the loss, Dominican now stands at 22-6 on the season.

Dominican took a 5-0 lead to start the contest, but the Rams came back with the next nine points to take the lead and went into the intermission with a 36-32 advantage.
Trailing 59-49 with just under ten minutes remaining, DC came charging back with a 15-4 run capped off by a layup from sophomore Nick Smith (Middletown, N.Y.) with 3:12 remaining to give Dominican a 64-63 lead. A trey regained the lead for good for the Rams as they went on to the 71-68 win.
Senior Leon Porter II (Laurel, Md.) paced the Chargers with 20 points, 16 of which he scored in the first half.
Smith finished with 14 points off the bench, while Cory Quimby* (Otisville, N.Y.) contributed 12 points and a team leading nine rebounds.
The Chargers connected on 37.3 percent (25-of-67) of its attempts, including 30.0 percent (6-of-20) of its three-pointers. The Rams edged out the Chargers in the rebounding department, 40-39.
DC currently ranked fifth in the NCAA East Region will await word of an at-large bid to the East Regional Tournament which will be announced on Sunday night.
