Manchester, N.H. (3/16/13) The #5 Dominican College men's basketball team fell to the fourth-seeded University of New Haven, 73-66, this evening in a NCAA East Regional Tournament game played at Southern New Hampshire.

Dominican recorded the first four points of the game on back-to-back layups from senior center Cory Quimby* (Otisville, N.Y.) for the early 4-0 lead. A 12-0 run by New Haven gave them the 12-4 advantage with 14:32 left in the first half.
The Chargers came back with the next seven points to cut the deficit to 12-11 and then outscored New Haven 4-2 over the next six points to take a 15-14 lead with 9:38 on the clock.
Later tied at 16-16, the University of New Haven went on a 7-1 to regain a 23-17 advantage and went into the break with a 29-25 lead.
Quimby led Dominican with nine points (4-8 from the floor) in the half. Nick Smith (Middletown, N.Y.) came off the bench to score five points.
Dominican shot 44.0% from the floor (11-25) in the first stanza.
A four point play by Leon Porter II (Laurel, Md.) as he swished a trey and converted the free throw on the foul to tie the game at 29-29. DC kept on the run as Quimby went 1-2 from the line and senior Daniel Woods (Marlboro, Md.) got the rebound off the missed free throw and hit a jumper in the paint for a 32-29 Dominican lead with 18:52 to go.
A pair of New Haven free throw made the score 32-31 but Dominican came back with an 9-5 run to reclaim a 41-36 lead with 15:11 on the clock. New Haven came back with a 9-4 run to tie the score at 45-all.
Later tied at 51-51, UNH outscored Dominican 7-1 to go ahead for good at 58-52. DC cut the deficit to three points twice at the 4:11 and the 2:51 mark. In the latter, New Haven answered with a layup and hit four straight free throws to gain a nine point lead (68-59) en route to the 73-66 victory.
Porter led three Dominican players in double figures with 20 points and three assists.
Quimby finished with 12 points and five rebounds, while Smith recorded 11 points and a team high seven rebounds.
With the loss Dominican ends the season with a 22-7 record.
Tonight marked the final game for seniors #1 Porter, #4 Daniel Woods, #5 Preson Smith, #23 Tyler Stradford and #44 Quimby.
