CHARGERS ADVANCE TO CACC SEMI-FINALS

(2/25/17) The Dominican College men's basketball team, the second seed in the North Division, advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Semi-Finals after defeating the #3 seed in the South Division, Goldey-Beacom College, 71-62, this afternoon on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

(2/25/17) The Dominican College men's basketball team, the second seed in the North Division, advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Semi-Finals after defeating the #3 seed in the South Division, Goldey-Beacom College, 71-62, this afternoon on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Following the victory, the team will advance to take on the top seed in the South Division, Philadelphia University, this coming Saturday at 2pm. All semi-finals and championship games will be hosted by Caldwell University.
The Chargers held a 19-15 advantage with 9:21 left in the first half, but would later need a jumper from sophomore Travis Cook (Middletown, N.Y.) to tie game, 28-28, with 3:36 on the clock. From there, DC went on a 7-0 run to close the half and regain a 35-28 advantage.
Dominican would lead by as many as 14 points (47-33) with 13:38 left in regulation, but the Lightning would rally and cut the lead to a single digit (60-59) with 4:47 to go. Back-to-back layups from All-CACC First Teamer, Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) increase the lead to 64-59 and the team would end the game on a 7-3 run for the win.
Irvin paced four Chargers in double figures with 16 points.
Cook finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, while Jonathan Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) came off the bench to score 11 points and three steals.
Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) nettd 10 points and five assists, while freshman guard Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) tallied an afternoon best 10 caroms to go along with five assists.
Dominican improves to 18-11 overall with the victory.
