CHARGERS LACROSSE LOSE TO CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
HIllburn, NY (3/16/12) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play after falling to the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 19-4, this afternoon in a game played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex. The Griffins, currently ranked 11th in the USILA rankings, improves to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

The Griffins, currently ranked 11th in the USILA rankings, improves to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
The Griffins struck first with a goal 1:11 into the contest for the early 1-0 lead. Dominican tied the game less than a minute later as senior attacker Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) scored a goal off the assist from Connor Lawlor (Neptune City, NJ).
A 3-0 CHC run closed out the first quarter scoring and made the score 4-1. Midfielder Matthew Brown (Sparkill, NY) opened up the second quarter with his first goal of the season off the assist from Daniel Steigert (Copiague, NY) to cut the deficit to 4-2. From there the scoring belonged to the Griffins as they closed out the second quarter with six straight goals and scored all seven goals of the third quarter to jump ahead 17-2 and complete a 13-0 run.
Attacker Chris Delaney (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada) broke the run with a Charger goal to open fourth quarter action off the pass from Pierce with 8:36 to go to make the score 17-3. A 2-0 spurt by CHC put them ahead 19-3 and Delaney closed out the game with his second goal of the contest with 3:09 on the clock for the final 19-4 score.
Goalie Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) made 18 saves in the loss.
DC returns to action on Tuesday, March 20th when they travel to non-conference opponent, the College of Saint Rose.
