CURRAN LEADS CHARGERS TO VICTORY OVER POST UNIVERSITY

Waterbury, Conn. (3/19/14)   Junior midfielder Hunter Curran (Virginia Beach, Va.) had a season high four goals in leading the Dominican College men's lacrosse team to a 9-8 victory over host, Post University, in a non-conference game played today.

With the win, Dominican improves to 1-4 overall.

Curran finished with four game goals and one assist to lead the Charger offense.

Theodore Wright (Copiague, N.Y.) finished with two goals and one assist, while Conor Reeves (Tappan, N.Y.) had one goal and one assist.

Senior Sean McGregor* (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) had a team high two assists in the win, while Thomas Dertinger* (Nanuet, N.Y.) and Nicholas Capano (Troy, N.Y.) each scored a goal.

The Eagles scored the first goal of the game and led 1-0 at the end of the first quarter, when Dominican came charging back with the first two goals of the second quarter to take a 2-1 lead.  Post ended the first half with a 2-1 run to tie the game at 3-3 at halftime.

Wright opened the third quarter scoring on a man-up opportunity off the assist from Reeves to regain a 4-3 advantage and Curran followed with back-to-back unassisted goals to extend the lead to 6-3.  Capano ended the third quarter with a goal to make the score 7-4.

In the fourth quarter, the Eagles went on a 3-0 run to tie the game at 7-7 but Curran regained the lead with his third game goal off the pass from Wright with 6:35 remaining.  After a Post goal with under three minutes left tied the score at 8-8, Curran netted the game winner with 43 ticks left on the pass from McGregor for the 9-8 win.

Senior Matthew Quinones* (Nanuet, N.Y.) made 20 saves in 60 minutes in the Charger net.
