#10 NYIT BEATS CHARGERS LACROSSE

Hillburn, N.Y. (3/26/14)  The #10 New York Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team beat the Dominican College Chargers, 17-6, this afternoon in an East Coast Conference (ECC) game played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.  With the loss, the Chargers fall to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while the Bears improve to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the ECC.

Senior midfielder Thomas Dertinger* (Nanuet, N.Y.) led Dominican with three goals in the game.

Hunter Curran (Virginia Beach, Va.) scored two goals, while Maxwell Odynski (Northport, N.Y.) had the other goal.

Nicholas Capano (Troy, N.Y.), Tanner Olsen (Chilliwack, Canada) and Theodore Wright (Copiague, N.Y.) all had an assist in the loss.

NYIT accounted for all of the scoring in the first quarter, before Curran scored his first goal (seventh of the season) with 8:53 left off the assist from Wright (eighth asssist of season) to make the score 6-1.  The Bears tacked on five more goals before the break for a 11-1 advantage.

Dertinger netted his 10th goal of the year with 7:24 remaining in the third quarter and at the end of three quarters of play, the score was 13-2.

With 11:23 left in the contest, Dertinger netted his second game goal off the assist from Olsen to cut the defict to 15-3 and the Chargers ended the game with a 3-0 run with Odynski,Curran and Dertinger recording goals for the 17-6 final score.

Goalie Matthew Quinones* (Nanuet, N.Y.) made 19 saves for the Chargers.
