DEVILS OUTLAST MEN'S LACROSSE

Madison, N.J. (3/29/14)  The Dominican College men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference game to FDU-Florham, 16-9, on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field.

Tanner Olsen (Chilliwack, Canada) and Hunter Curran (Virginia Beach, Va.) each recorded a hat trick and two assists to lead Dominican on the day with five game points.

Senior Thomas Dertinger (Nanuet, N.Y.) netted two goals, while Sean McGregor (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) added a goal.

Conor Reeves (Tappan, N.Y.) and Theodore Wright (Copiague, N.Y.) also recorded assists in the loss.

Matthew Quinones* (Nanuet, N.Y.) made 20 saves in the game.

The Devils did all of the scoring in the first quarter before Olsen got the Chargers on the board with 9:18 remaining in the second quarter.  Dertinger netted his 13th goal of the season to cut the deficit to 7-2 with 3:25 left in the half and FDU-Florham went into the break with an 8-2 lead.

DC scored the first three goals of the third quarter as Curran, Olsen and Dertinger put together a 3-0 run to cut the lead to 8-5 with 6:24 left in the third quarter.  The Devils closed out third quarter play with a 4-0 run to extend their lead to 12-5.

The Chargers opened the fourth quarter with two unanswered goals by Curran and McGregor to make the score 12-7, but FDU closed out the remaining eight minutes on a 4-2 run for the 16-9 win.

With the loss Dominican falls to 1-7 on the season.
