CHARGERS CELEBRATE SENIOR DAY

Hillburn, N.Y. (4/16/14)  The Dominican College men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day this afternoon in their East Coast Conference (ECC) game against #5 Dowling College in a game played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.  The Golden Lions game away with the 18-3 victory.

Prior to the start of the game, the team honored seniors: #9 Thomas Conway (Rye, N.Y.), #10 Dominick Torres (Peekskill, N.Y.), #14 Matthew Quinones* (Nanuet, N.Y.), #19 Anton Gjeloshi* (Pomona, N.Y.), #27 Thomas Dertinger (Nanuet, N.Y.), #29 Nic Capano (Troy, N.Y.), #44 Sean McGregor* (Bloomingburg, N.Y.), and #45 Michael Kennedy (Staten Island, N.Y.).

The Golden Lions accounted for all of the scoring in the first half and netted the first goal of the third quarter to go ahead, 12-0.  Capano got the Chargers on the scoreboard with the unassisted goal with 7:47 remaining in the third quarter.

Dominican scored back-to-back goals to begin the fourth quarter as junior Hunter Curran (Virginia Beach, Va.) found the net after the pass from Maxwell Odynski (Northport, N.Y.)  McGregor netted his eighth goal of the season with a little over five minutes to play.

Goalie Quinones made a career high 36 saves in the loss and had a team high five ground balls.

Gjeloshi and Curran each picked up four ground balls.

With the loss, the Chargers fall to 1-11 overall and 0-6 in ECC play.

Dominican returns to action on April 23rd as they travel to Molloy College.
