Hillburn, N.Y. (3/19/15) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team suffered a tough 11-10 non-conference loss to the visiting Eagles of Post University in a game played today at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

The Eagles accounted for all of the scoring in the first quarter with three goals for the early 3-0 lead. Midfielder Hunter Curran (Virginia Beach, Va.) put the Chargers on the board just 15 seconds into the second quarter on the man up opportunity off the assist from Jimmy Anderson (Hewlett, N.Y.). Following a 2-0 spurt by Post, Christopher Augustin (Bellport, N.Y.) netted the unassisted goal to make the score 5-2.
Less than a minute later, the Eagles countered with their sixth goal of the contest, before sophomore Sean Driscoll (Stony Point, N.Y.) converted a man-up opportunity with a goal off Anderson's second assist of the game. Junior G. Dennis Garsinii (Minneapolis, Minn.) with his first goal of the season to cut the deficit to 6-4 with 2:33 before the break. An Eagle goal closed out the first half and made the score 7-4.
The Chargers came out of the intermission on a mission as they scored three straight goals to tie the game, 7-7. Anderson netted his first game goal after the pass from Evan Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Heegan followed two minutes later with an unassisted goal. A minute later Curran tied the game with his second goal off the assist from Anderson.
With 12 ticks left in the third quarter, the Eagles netted a goal to regain the 8-7 lead.
Curran completed the hat trick with his third game goal during a man down situation to re-knot the game at 8-8 with 14:45 left in regulation. Post used three goals from Frank Nichols, Jr. to put them ahead for good at 11-8. Freshman Kevin Mayer (Wantagh, N.Y.) scored his first collegiate goal off the assist from Curran and Conor Reeves (Tappan, N.Y.) closed out the game with the unassisted goal for the final 11-10 score.
Curran led Dominican with three game goals, while Anderson finished with three assists.
Carlos Villamain (Montgomery, N.Y.) made eight saves in 24:16, while freshman Matthew Sandelier (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) had 13 saves in 35:44.
Dominican had the edge in face offs, 14-8, while both teams finished with 45 ground balls each.
The Eagles out shot the Chargers, 48-30 and had 21 clears to the Chargers 18.
With the loss the Chargers fall to 0-4 on the season.
