ARENT LEADS MEN'S LACROSSE TO WIN OVER UNIVERSITY OF DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
Washington, D.C. (3/4/16) Freshman midfielder David Arent (Huntington Beach, Calif.) scored a career high six game goals, including the game-winner with 3:10 remaining in overtime to lead the Dominican College men's lacrosse team to a 9-8 victory over host the District of Columbia in an East Coast Conference (ECC) game played at Cooper Field.

Washington, D.C. (3/4/16) Freshman midfielder David Arent (Huntington Beach, Calif.) scored a career high six game goals, including the game-winner with 3:10 remaining in overtime to lead the Dominican College men's lacrosse team to a 9-8 victory over host the District of Columbia in an East Coast Conference (ECC) game played at Cooper Field.
The Firebirds opened the scoring with a goal at the 7:19 mark in the first quarter, but DC quickly tied the score less than a minute later on a man-up opportunity as senior attacker Conor Reeves* (Tappan, N.Y.) scored a goal off the assist from Ryan Wiberly (Setauket, N.Y.). The rest of the period belonged to UDC as they netted two more goals for the 3-1 advantage.
Dominican charged right back into the game with three unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 4-3 lead into the locker room. Arent was responsible for all three scores with Aaron Yulfo (Shirley, N.Y.) assisting on the last goal of the half.
UDC scored the first goal of the third quarter to re-tie the game, but sophomore midfielder Kevin Mayer* (Wantagh, N.Y.) regained a 5-4 lead for the Chargers with 4:25 left off the pass from Yulfo. DC added a goal with a little over two minutes remaining as Arent netted his fourth game goal to incrase the lead to 6-4 at the end of three quarters of play.
Arent opened up the fourth quarter with his fifth game goal of the pass from Reeves to give the Chargers a three-goal lead, but the Firebirds countered with four straight goals to pull in front 8-7 with 3:59 to play in regulation. Wiberly scored his first goal of the game with 1:39 on the clock as Yulfo completed the hat trick with his third assist of the game and re-tie the game at 8-8.
In the overtime quarter, Arent netted the game-winner following a pass from Mayer for the win.
Goalie Joseph Fabiilli (Glen Head, N.Y.) made a career high 20 saves in the win.
Arent finished with six goals, while Yulfo tallied three assists.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in ECC play.
