MARTINI LEADS MEN'S LACROSSE TO CACC SEMI-FINALS
West Caldwell, N.J. (5/4/21) Midfielder Luke Martini (Abington, Mass.) netted the game winning goal with 1:30 left in the first overtime period to lead the #5 Dominican College men's lacrosse team to a 10-9 victory over #4 Caldwell University in a 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Lacrosse Championships Quarter-Finals game played at Essex Valley Field.

With the win, Dominican improves to 4-4 overall and advances to the CACC Championship Semi-Finals to be played this coming Thursday and hosted by #1 Chestnut Hill College. Game time is slated for 12pm.
Martini finished with a season high five goals and three assists for eight game points to highlight the Charger offense.
Midfielder Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va.) tallied two goals and three assists, while Connor Holland (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) also scored two goals.
Cole Vencack (Smithtown, N.Y.) had the other Dominican score.
Caldwell held a 2-0 lead halfway through the first quarter when Martini got the Chargers on the scoreboard with his first game goal off the pass from Pierce. Martini returned the favor almost three minutes later as he assisted on Pierce's game-tying score.
Pierce gave DC a 3-2 advantage with just under nine minutes left in the half off the pass from Martini. Caldwell closed out the quarter on a 2-0 run for the 4-3 lead at the break.
Dominican opened the third quarter with three straight goals of the sticks of Martini (2) and Vencack to rebuild a 6-4 lead.
CU countered with back-to-back runs to re-tie the game, but Holland's goal with 3:33 left in the quarter put them up 7-6. Caldwell ended the quarter on a 2-0 run for the 8-7 lead heading into the final quarter.
The Cougars built up a two goal lead with 12:30 to play, but Holland and Martini scored with 4:05 and 3:25 left in regulation to make the score 9-9.
The game-winning goal off the stick of Martini came 2:30 in overtime for the 10-9 win.
Charger keeper Patrick Gifford (Galloway, N.J.) made a season high 17 saves.
