CHARGERS WIN CACC CHAMPIONSHIP
Waterbury, Conn. (11/4/12) The Dominican College men's soccer team won the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Tournament Championship in thrilling fashion this afternoon as the team won their second shootout in five days. DC, the second seed in the tournament, won the shootout, 3-2 over the top-seeded Eagles of Post University.

(11/4/12) The Dominican College men's soccer team won the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Tournament Championship in thrilling fashion this afternoon as the team won their second shootout in five days. DC, the second seed in the tournament, won the shootout, 3-2 over the top-seeded Eagles of Post University.
The teams played a scoreless first half with the Eagles holding a 4-2 advantage in shots.
In the second half, Dominican took a 1-0 lead at the 67:42 mark as senior forward Alex Rodier (Williamstown, N.J.) netted his third goal of the season off the pass from Dennis Kcira (New City, N.Y.).
The Eagles came back to tie the game in the 80th minute.
After two scoreless overtime periods, the teams entered the shootout where five players from each team are picked to attempt a shot at the goal.
Senior Pedro De Araujo (Campinas-SP, Brazil) went first for Dominican and converted his shot. The Eagles missed their first two attempts and the Chargers missed their second shot to see DC be head 1-0 after two rounds. Junior forward Jorge Zubillaga (Punta del Este, Uruguay) converted his kick to see Dominican go up 2-0, but Post came back as they converted their next two shots and the Chargers missed their fourth shot to make the shootout tied, 2-2.
Sophomore midfielder Manuel Valencia (New Rochelle, N.Y.) hit the decisive fifth shot for Dominican to put the team ahead 3-2 with one kick to go.
Charger keeper Andres Ruiz (Medellin, Colombia) made an incredible save on the last shot to solidify the Charger victory.
Ruiz finished with five saves in regulation.
