Caldwell, N.J. (9/20/14) The Dominican College men's soccer team was upended, 1-0, by Caldwell University this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played at the Caldwell Field.
Caldwell, N.J. (9/20/14) The Dominican College men's soccer team was upended, 1-0, by Caldwell University this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played at the Caldwell Field.
With the loss, the Chargers fall to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
In the 15th minute of action, a foul called on Dominican at the top of the penalty area allowed a Caldwell free kick from 22 yards out which found its way into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead and eventual victory.
Dominican had a chance to tie in the 79th minute as Matheus Sousa (Cuiaba, Brazil) took a shot, but a diving Cougar keeper made the save.
DC outshot the Cougars 24-8 and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Mark Grant (Tokoyo, Japan) had a team leading three shots.
Steven Hegner (Pomona, N.Y.) made two saves in the loss.
The Chargers are back in action on September 24th as they travel to CACC opponent, Post University.
