Brick, NJ (4/16/11) The Dominican College softball team, ranked fourth in the NCAA East Region Rankings, lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header to host, Georgian Court University, this afternoon in games played at GCU Field. With the losses, Dominican falls to 21-13 overall and 11-5 in conference play.

Brick, NJ (4/16/11) The Dominican College softball team, ranked fourth in the NCAA East Region Rankings, lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header to host, Georgian Court University, this afternoon in games played at GCU Field. With the losses, Dominican falls to 21-13 overall and 11-5 in conference play.
Game One: Dominican opened scoring in the third inning as Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) reached on a Georgian Court fielding error and Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) drew a one out walk. With two outs, Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY) delivered an RBI double to left center field to take a 1-0 lead.
GCU put three runs on the board in the bottom half of the fifth inning on a three-run home run to left field for the eventual 3-1 victory.
Junior Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) suffered the loss (9-6), allowing three runs on four hits with six strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican scored a run in each of the first three inning to hold a 3-2 advantage. In the first Jeppson led off the game with a single to center field and would later score on a GCU error. In the second, Jeppson hit a two out RBI double to left center field to plate Kathryn Coles (Farmville, VA). Dominican's third run of the game was on a sacrifice fly ball to center field of the bat of Coles for the 3-2 lead.
GCU added two runs in the fifth and added three runs in the sixth inning to go ahead 7-3. Dominican put three runs on the board in the top of the seventh as Corrao belted her third home run in four games over the left field fence to score three runs. A fly ball to left field ended the run for the Lady Chargers and gave GCU the 7-6 victory.
Childers suffered the loss (12-5) in six innings of work, allowing seven runs (three earned) on seven hits and four strikeouts.
