Rockville Center, N.Y. (3/13/21) The Dominican College softball team dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader to Molloy College.
After the DH, the Lions improve to 4-0, and the Lady Chargers fall to 0-4.
Game One: The Lions shutout the Lady Chargers by a score of 6-0. Courtney Greene earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the season. Greene recorded six strikeouts in seven innings.
Amanda King recorded two hits and two RBI. Marissa Nicoletti also finished the game with two hits and two RBI. Chrissie Huhn and Emma Bachman each added one RBI.
Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.), Bailey Bell (Washington, Pa.), Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.), and Alyssa Schwalb (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) each recorded one hit for DC.
Game Two: The Lions followed up their win in game one with an 11-4 win in game two.
DC jumped out in front in the first inning and then the Lions took the lead in the second inning. The Lady Chargers answered back to retake the lead 4-3 in the third inning.
The Lions tied the game in the bottom of the third inning and then regained the lead in the fourth inning and never looked back on their way to the 11-4 win.
Marissa Nicoletti drove in three RBI with a double and a triple. Angelique Serrano and Mikaela Tribby each recorded two hits and added two RBI including home runs for each. Courtney Greene also hit a homer.
Chrissie Huhn added two hits and one RBI.
For DC, Rajene Bowe recorded two hits and scored two runs. Haylee Redmond Ridge drove in two RBI. Andrea Hester (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) each drove in one RBI.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Sunday, March 14th when they travel to St. Thomas Aquinas College for a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM and game two is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
