Sparkill, N.Y. (4/28/22) The Dominican College softball team fell in non-conference action to the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College.
The Spartans defeated the Lady Chargers by a score of 8-0 in five innings to improve to 25-18 on the season.
The Lady Chargers fell to 17-22 overall on the season after the loss.
The Spartans scored two runs in the first inning to get on the board and followed up with four runs in the second inning. STAC capped off the win with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend their lead to 8-0.
Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) was the only runner to reach base in the game for DC. O'Reilly reached on an error in the first inning.
STAC was led by Carissa Della Vecchia who finished 3-4 including a double and two RBIs. Emilie Olivier added a two-run homer while Rudae Gadson, Jailene Santiago, and Tara Hagan each drove in one run.
Abbie Landrum recorded her 12th win of the season for STAC by throwing five shutout innings and added two strikeouts.
Lady Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, April 30th for their regular season finale when they visit Felician University. Game one is scheduled for 4:30 PM and game two will follow at 6:30 PM.
