WOMEN'S TRACK FINISHES FOURTH AT INAUGURAL CACC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Lakewood, N.J. (5/4/14) The Dominican College women's track and field team finished fourth at the inaugural Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships held today at Georgian Court University.
Lakewood, N.J. (5/4/14) The Dominican College women's track and field team finished fourth at the inaugural Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships held today at Georgian Court University.
Host, Georgian Court University, brought home the women's team championships with a combined score of 260 points. Caldwell College finished second with 139 points, followed by Philadelphia University (110 points), Dominican College (56 points), Holy Family University (51 points), Chestnut Hill College (38 points) and Post University (31 points).
Freshman Kadijah Cox (New Milford, N.J.) had the high finish of second place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.84 and placed third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.17. She also took part in the long jump where se took fourth place with a jump of 4.47m.
Senior Jessica Avila (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) took eighth place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:12.45.
In the 800 meter run, Renee Roncace (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) ran a time of 2:46.14 to finish in seventh place, while Avila took ninth place with a time of 2:52.90.
Catherine Ortiz (Middletown, N.Y.) ran in the 400 meter hurdle event and place fourth with a time of 1:31.41.
The relay team of Roncace, Avila, Ortiz and Cox ran in the 4x400 meter relay and finished in second place with a time of 4:38.17.
Junior Brittany Austin (Highland Mills, N.Y.) placed sixth in the shot put event with a throw of 9.29m, while Gina Yannette (Dumont, N.J.) finished in seventh place with a throw of 9.17m. Simonne Moore (Bronx, N.Y.) took ninth place with a throw of 8.87m.
Austin and Yannette also competed in the discus throw where Austin took fourth place with a throw of 30.10m and Yannette followed in fifth place with a throw of 28.90m. Moore finished in 11th place with a throw of 18.22m.
All three throwers also placed in the javelin thro where Yannette took third place with a 32.21m throw. Austin finished in eighth place with a 22.31m throw and Moore had a 18.61m throw to finish in 12th place.
