LADY CHARGERS BASKETBALL TOPS ST. THOMAS AQUINAS COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (11/13/10) The Dominican College women's basketball team improved to 2-0 after defeating the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College, 57-32, in the finale of the 2010 Dominican College Women's Basketball Tip-Off Tournament held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. Nyack defeated Mercy College, 70-62, in overtime in the afternoon's first game.

Nyack defeated Mercy College, 70-62, in overtime in the afternoon's first game.
The Lady Chargers took command of the game early and never trailed in the contest. Holding a 12-8 lead with 8:11 remaining in the first half, DC charged ahead with an 18-4 run to close out the half with a 30-12 lead.
Dominican stayed hot to start the second half as they extended their lead to 43-17 with 14:20 to go and led by as many as 36 points (57-21) with 7:49 remaining in the game. St. Thomas Aquinas closed out the game with 11 unanswered points for the final 57-32 Lady Charger victory.
DC shot 21-45 (46.7%) from the floor for the game and shot well from the three point line, going 7-14 (50%).
Sophomore guard Shannon Lavelle (Floral Park, NY) led two players in double figures with 13 points, while Marley Klunk (York, PA) netted 11 points and had seven rebounds. Samantha Klunk (York, PA) grabbed a game leading eight rebounds. Guards Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) and Kaity Lent (Vineland, NJ) each scored nine points in the victory.
In the day's first game, Nyack rallied from a six point deficit (44-50) with 8:44 remaining in regulation to take a 58-56 lead with 2:53 to go in regulation. Tied 58-all as the game went into overtime, Nyack took a two point lead with 2:35 to go and went on to score six unanswered points for a 70-62 victory.
Dominican is back in action on Friday, November 19th as they take on Stonehill College in the Stonehill College Classic at 7:30 pm.
