WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEAT CONCORDIA CLIPPERS
Bronxville, NY (12/9/10) The Dominican College women's basketball team used a 43 point performance in the second half to rally against host, Concordia College, 76-69, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest held at they Meyer Athletic Center.
Bronxville, NY (12/9/10) The Dominican College women's basketball team used a 43 point performance in the second half to rally against host, Concordia College, 76-69, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest held at they Meyer Athletic Center.
Dominican opened up with the game's opening basket by forward Marley Klunk (York, PA) but a Clipper 13-2 run but them ahead 13-4. Dominican came back to tie the contest at 13-13 with 14:56 left in the first stanza, but a Concordia run of 27-12 to close out the first half gave them a 48-33 lead at the intermission.
A three point basket from sophomore guard Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) cut the Clipper lead to three (58-55) with just under 11-minutes to go in regulation. The Lady Chargers took their first lead of the second half with 4:56 to go on another Lopez three point bucket to go ahead 65-63 and a layup from freshman KC Jentzen (Pearl River, NY) put DC ahead for good (70-69) with 1:42 left as they went on to the 76-69 win.
Lopez came off the bench to net 23 points, shooting 5-9 from the three point line. Senior guard Shanice Scully (St. Albans, NY) added 10 points, while Kaity Lent (Vineland, NJ) scored eight points and senior Jasmine Schinella (Wappinger Falls, NY) had seven points and six rebounds in the win.
With the win Dominican improves to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the CACC.
