LADY CHARGER BASKETBALL FALL IN OVERTIME TO PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY
Philadelphia, PA (1/27/11) The Dominican College women's basketball team fell to host Philadelphia University, 69-79, in overtime this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. With the loss Dominican falls to 6-10 overall and 4-5 in the CACC, while Philadelphia improves to 9-7 overall and 5-4 in conference play.

With the loss Dominican falls to 6-10 overall and 4-5 in the CACC, while Philadelphia improves to 9-7 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
Dominican trailed 24-23 with 5:39 remaining in the first half when back-to-back baskets from senior Jasmine Schinella (Wappinger Falls, NY) and guard Samantha Klunk (York, PA) put gave DC a 27-24 lead. A three point Ram bucket tied the game at 27-all, but five straight points from sophomore guard Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) put the Lady Chargers up 32-27 with 3:32 on the clock and went into the intermission with a 34-31 advantage as senior Shanice Scully (St. Albans, NY) closed out the first half scoring going 2-2 from the charity stripe.
Up 42-41 early in the second half, DC went on a 7-0 run as junior guard Meghan Murphy (Carmel, NY) scored six straight points off an and-one play and a trey, followed by a KC Jentzen (Pearl River, NY) free throw to go up 49-41.
A 16-6 run by Philadelphia turned a five point deficit into a 62-59 lead with 4:45 remaining in regulation. A three point bucket from Lopez regained a 65-62 lead and a Kaity Lent (Vineland, NJ) jumper with 2:29 to go held a 67-65 advantage, but a Ram layup tied the game with 2:02 on the clock and the second half would end witha 67-67 score.
The Rams outscored the Lady Chargers 14-2 in the overtime period with the DC points coming off two free throws from Scully for the final 79-69 score.
Lopez led four Lady Chargers in double figures with 16 points. Murphy, Klunk each netted 10 points, while Marley Klunk (York, PA) netted 10 points off the bench in the loss.
