CALDWELL COLLEGE DEFEATS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Orangeburg, NY (2/9/11) The visiting Cougars of Caldwell College defeated the Dominican College women's basketball team, 61-55, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, NY (2/9/11) The visiting Cougars of Caldwell College defeated the Dominican College women's basketball team, 61-55, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Caldwell scored the first seven points of the game and led 13-2 with 14:00 left in the first half. DC was limited to just four points halfway through the first half (22-4), but managed to cut the deficit to seven points (25-18) with 5:42 on the clock as the Cougars held a 35-22 lead at the break.
In the second half Dominican cut the lead to four points (49-45) with 7:54 left in the game, but a 6-0 run by Caldwell regained a double-digit lead (55-45). Dominican then went on a 10-2, capped off by a huge three point basket from guard Meghan Murphy (Carmel, NY) tear to trail by only two points (57-55) with 0:19 left, but the Cougars closed out the game with four free throws for the 61-55 victory.
Sophomore guard Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) led three Lady Chargers in double-figures with 19 points. Murphy finished with 13 points and five assists, while Marley Klunk (York, PA) came off the bnech to net 10 points and a team leading nine rebounds in the loss.
With the loss Dominican now stands at 7-14 overall and 5-9 in the CACC.
DC is back in action on Saturday when they host Chestnut Hill College in the 10th Annual Sue Heller Memorial basketball game.
