WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TURNS BACK CALDWELL COLLEGE
Caldwell, NJ (2/16/12) The Dominican College women's basketball team defeated host, Caldwell College, 73-69, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the George R. Newman Center. With the victory Dominican improves to 12-12 overall and 11-6 in conference play, while Caldwell falls to 15-10 overall and 12-6 in the CACC.

Newman Center. With the victory Dominican improves to 12-12 overall and 11-6 in conference play, while Caldwell falls to 15-10 overall and 12-6 in the CACC.
Dominican held a slight 18-17 advantage with under nine minutes remaining when they went on a dominating 21-7 tear to close out the first half with a 39-24 lead. Dominican shot 51.7% from the floor in the first stanza, going 6-12 (50%) from the three point arc.
Caldwell cut the lead to 55-52 with 8:13 to go in the second half when the Lady Chargers went on a 7-3 run to rebuild a 62-55 lead with just under three minutes to go as guard Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) went 2-2 from the charity stripe.
The Cougars netted a layup with 11 ticks on the clock to cut the lead to a single possession, 71-69, but Lopez added another two free throws fo the final 73-69 victory.
Senior forward Marley Klunk (York, PA) led four Lady Chargers in double figures with 20 points, shooting 8-16 from the floor, and adding five rebounds.
Lopez finished with 17 points, going 8-8 from the free throw line, while Bianca Harris (Teaneck, NJ) scored 14 points (7-9 from the floor) and grabbed a team leading nine rebounds in the win. Guard Shannon Lavelle* (Floral Park, NY) netted 12 points as she went 4-7 from the three point arc.
With the victory, Dominican stays in the hunt for second place in the CACC North Division. The Caldwell loss allows Felician College to clinch the top spot in the division tonight, while the Lady Chargers will need to win their next two contests, plus a Caldwell loss on Saturday to Georgian Court University, to finish in second place in the CACC North Division.
Dominican hosts Holy Family University on Saturday, February 18th at 1pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
