LADY CHARGERS EDGED BY POST UNIVERSITY
Waterbury, Conn. (1/28/14) The Dominican College women's basketball team was edged by host Post University, 83-79, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game held at the Drubner Center. With the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 6-12 overall and 4-7 in conference play.

Waterbury, Conn. (1/28/14) The Dominican College women's basketball team was edged by host Post University, 83-79, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game held at the Drubner Center. With the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 6-12 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
Dominican trailed 26-22 with 7:46 remaining in the first half when the Lady Chargers went on an 8-0 run to claim a 30-26 advantage with under six minutes left. From there the Eagles soared ahead with an 18-4 tear to end the first half with a 44-34 lead.
Post led by as many as 11 points in the second stanza, but the Lady Chargers cut the deficit to a single point (74-73) with 4:21 on the clock after a layup from senior KC Jentzen*(Pearl River, N.Y.) and later with 1:45 to go following a trey from Nicole Welton* (Southbury, Conn.) to make the score 80-79. A Post layup and free throw secured the 83-79 victory.
Jentzen led four Lady Chargers in double figures with 18 points and added seven rebounds, two blocks and three steals.
Freshman Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) grabbed a team leading eight rebounds had four assists and scored 16 points in the loss. Jacqueline Rywalt (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) also had four assists.
Lashonda Hathorne (Queens, N.Y.) scored 15 points, while Welton finished with 12 points (4-8 from the three point arc) and six rebounds.
Dominican shot 47.8% (33-69) from the floor for the game and went 6-15 (40.0%) from the three point arc. The team shot better from the charity stripe, going 7-10 (70.0%).
DC is back in action on Saturday as they travel to CACC opponent, Chestnut Hill College.
