LADY CHARGERS VICTORIOUS OVER POST UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/20/14) The Dominican College women's basketball team improved to 11-13 overall and 9-8 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating the visiting Eagles of Post University, 83-73, this evening in a game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/20/14) The Dominican College women's basketball team improved to 11-13 overall and 9-8 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating the visiting Eagles of Post University, 83-73, this evening in a game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Dominican opened the game with the first 11 of 14 points to take the early lead, but a 15-3 Eagle run game them the 18-14 advantage with 9:47 remaining in the first half. A layup from KC Jentzen (Pearl River, N.Y.) cut the deficit to two points, but six unanswered Post Points extended their lead to 24-16 and they went into the break with a 37-31 lead.
Trailing 43-36 with 17:43 left in the game, the Lady Chargers charged back with a 29-11 run which spanned about nine minutes to regain a 65-54 lead. Post got the lead down to five points (71-65) with 3:47 on the clock, but a 6-0 DC run regained a double-digit lead and they went on to the 83-73 win.
Guard Lashonda Hathorne (Queens, N.Y.) led three Lady Chargers in double figures with a career high 24 points.
Jentzen finished with 20 points and six rebounds, while Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) added 15 points and five caroms in the win.
The Lady Chargers shot well from the floor, going 35-65 (53.8%) for the contest, but went 8-12 (66.7%) from the charity stripe and 5-13 (38.5) from the three point arc.
The Eagles out rebounded Dominican, 33-29, while DC scored 45 points in the pain to Post's 20.
DC is back in action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC contest.
