#5 ROBERTS WESLEYAN COLLEGE UPEND #1 DOMINICAN IN DOUBLE OVERTIME
Amherst, N.Y. (3/14/21) The top-seeded Dominican College women's basketball team were upset this evening by the fifth-seeded Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan College, 77-73 in double overtime, in an NCAA East Regional Semifinal contest played on the campus of Daemen College.

Following the loss, Dominican ends the 2021 season with an overall record of 10-2, while RWC improves to 12-6 and andvances to East Regional Final to be played on Monday night against #2 Daemen College.
DC trailed 13-10 with a minute and a half left in the first quarter, but used back-to-back three-point buckets from Elle Nittinger (Waverly, N.Y.) and Jaid Harrell (Kingston, N.Y.) to push ahead 13-10.
In the second quarter, the Lady Chargers used a 9-1 run to extend their lead to double-digits (25-15) with 6:29 to go before th intermission. Sophomore guard Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) increased the lead to 34-23 on a trey late in the quarter and they went into the locker room with a 34-25.
Dominican would lead by as many as 13 points in the third quarter as Taylor Tolminson (Middletown, N.Y.) hit a jumper with 7:19 left to take a 41-28 lead. An 11-2 Redhawk run cut the lead to four (43-39) with 3:40 on the clock, but DC countered a rebuilt 52-43 edge with under two minutes left. The last bucket of the quarter belonged to RWC to make the score 52-46.
The Lady Chargers trailed 64-62 with 11 ticks left in regulation and following a time out, junior Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y) scored a layup off the pass from, Tomlinson with one second left to force the overtime period.
The first overtime period saw each team score four points a-piece with Guerra re-tying the score at 68-68 with a little over a minute to go to extend the game into the second overtime period.
Senior Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) made the score 73-all on a layup with 1:43 to go, but a basket and two free throws gave the RedHawks the 77-73 lead with under a minute to play. The RWC defense was able to keep Dominican from scoring and held on for the win.
Gee finished with a team high 17 points and added seven assists.
Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) had the team's only double-double of 13 points, 10 rebounds and five asssts, while Tomlinson finsihed with 12 points, nine reboumds, six assists and three blocks.
Guerra had nine points and eight rebounds uin the loss.
