Lakewood, N.J. (3/27/13)  The Georgian Court University Lions upended the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 14-10, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.  With the loss, DC falls to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play while the Lions improve to 3-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the CACC.

Sophomore Allison Smithwick (Commack, N.Y.) led the Lady Charger offense with a season high five goals in the game.

Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.) and Gina Sparaco (Freeport, N.Y.) each scored two goals, while Amanda Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.) scored one goal.  Brennan, Traci-Joan Muniz* (Middlesex, N.J.) and Amanda Murray (Oakdale, N.Y.) all had assists.

Freshman goalie Brittany Kiernan (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made five saves in the net.

Sparaco scored the first goal of the game just 1:02 in, but GCU came back to tie it about 1:30 later.  The Lady Chargers then went on a 2-0 run with goals by Shelton and Smithwick for the 3-1 advantage with 17:49 remaining in the first half.

Four straight GCU goals gave them a 5-3 lead, but Brennan broke the run with her first game goal to cut the deficit to 5-4.  After a Lion goal, Smithwick countered with her second goal of the game to make the score 6-5 with 5:46 on the clock.  Georgian Court closed out first half play with three goals for a 9-5 lead.

The Lions opened the second half with a goal to extend the lead to 10-5, but Smithwick completed the hat trick with her third game goal with 20:20 left in regulation.  From there GCU recorded two straight before a DC 2-0 spurt made the score 12-8.  Sparaco and Smithwick tallied the last two Lady Charger goals for the final 14-10 score.

Dominican is set to be in action tomorrow as they take on Wesleyan University.
