LADY CHARGERS LACROSSE BEATS CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
Lafayette Hill, Pa. (4/6/13) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team improved to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play this afternoon after defeating host, Chestnut Hill College, 14-9. Following the loss, the Griffins fall to 2-8 overall and 2-4 in the CACC.

Sophomore attacker Allison Smithwick (Commack, N.Y.) led the Lady Chargers with four goals on the afternon.
Traci-Joan Muniz (Middlesex, N.J.), Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.) Brianna Blank (Point Pleasant, N.J.) and Gina Sparaco (Freeport, N.Y.) all netted two goals each in the win, with Brennan and Sparaco adding two assists each and Muniz picking up an assist.
Amanda Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.) and Kelly Barbarite (Smithtown, N.Y.) accounted for the other DC goals.
Dominican took a 2-0 advantage, but the Griffins came back with back-to-back goals to tie the score with 12:33 remaining in the first half. The Lady Chargers went on to score the final three goals of the first half for a 5-2 lead at the break.
Both teams traded goals for the first nine minutes of the second half to make the score 7-4 with Smithwick completing the hat trick with her third game goal with 21:41 left in the game.
With the score 8-5, DC went on a 3-0 run to gain a six-goal lead (11-5) with 13:55 remaining. From there CHC would out score the Lady Chargers 4-3 in the remaining time for the final 14-9 score.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Tuesday afternoon as they host Georgian Court University at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
