WOMEN'S LACROSSE CRUISE PAST POST UNIVERSITY
Hillburn, N.Y. (4/11/13) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team cruised past the visiting Eagles of Post University, 20-4, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division clash played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
Hillburn, N.Y. (4/11/13) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team cruised past the visiting Eagles of Post University, 20-4, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division clash played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
With the win, Dominican improves to 5-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
Sophomore attacker Allison Smithwick (Commack, N.Y.) led all scorers with five goals and added an assist for a total six game points.
Midfielder Traci-Joan Muniz* (Middlesex, N.J.) tallied three goals and three assists for a total of six points, while Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.) netted one goal and three assists for four points.
Brianna Blank (Point Pleasant, N.J.) and Amanda Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.) scored three goals a-piece with Shelton adding an assist, while Kelly Barbarite (Smithtown, N.Y.) netted two goals.
Gina Sparaco (Freeport, N.Y.), Emily Murray (Oakdale, N.Y.) and Danielle Klecha (Jamesburg, N.J.) all scored one goal in the win.
Goalie Brittany Kiernan (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made eight saves.
Dominican opened the game with three unanswered goals, but were outscored 3-1 over the next 12 minutes to hold a slight 4-3 advantage with 10:50 remaining in the first half.
From there the Lady Chargers went on a dominating 11-0 run to extend the lead to 15-3 with 11:23 left in the game. After a Post goal, Dominican closed out the game with a 5-0 run for the 20-4 victory.
DC is back in action on Saturday as they host Wilmington University on the DC Lacrosse Field at 12pm.
