#2N LADY CHARGERS EDGED BY #1S PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY
Lakewood, N.J. (4/27/13) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team, the second seed in the north division, fell to Philadelphia University, the top seed in the south division, 13-12, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Semi-Final contest played on the campus of Georgian Court University, host of the 2013 CACC Women's Lacrosse Championships.

(4/27/13) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team, the second seed in the north division, fell to Philadelphia University, the top seed in the south division, 13-12, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Semi-Final contest played on the campus of Georgian Court University, host of the 2013 CACC Women's Lacrosse Championships.
The Rams scored the first goal of the game 58 seconds into the first half, but the Lady Chargers tied the game almost three minutes later as CACC First Team selection, Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.) netted her first game goal off the assist from Amanda Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.)
From there Philadelphia went on a 5-0 run to pull ahead 6-1 with 15:02 left in the first half. DC answered back with a 5-0 run of their own to tie the score at 6-6. Shelton, Traci-Joan Muniz* (Middlesex, N.J.) and All-CACC First Team pick Allison Smithwick all scored unassisted goals, while Kelly Barbarite (Smithtown, N.Y.) recorded a goal off the assist from Muniz and Shelton netted her second game goal to tie the game.
The Lady Chargers outscored the Rams 2-1 over the final 4:22 of the first half to hold an 8-7 advantage at the break. Midfielder Emily Murray (Oakdale, N.Y.) tallied her first goal of the game off the pass from Brennan and Brennan ended the half with a free position goal.
Philadelphia opened the second half with a 3-0 run to regain a 10-8 lead with just under 17 minutes remaining. Barbrite netted her second goal off the assist from Murray to make the score 10-9. Smithwick later made the score 11-10 Philadelphia with 11:10 to go, but the Rams regained the two goal lead, 12-10, less than a minute later.
With under ten minutes remaining, Shelton completed the hat trick with her third game goal off the pass from Muniz to cut the deficit to 12-11 with 9:41 on the clock and Muniz tied the game with under four minutes remaining on a free position shot to tie the score, 12-12.
Philadelphia netted the game-winner with 2:13 left in regulation for the 13-12 win and will take on Holy Family University in the CACC Championship tomorrow.
Freshman Brittany Kiernan (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made nine saves in the loss.
Shelton finished the game with three goals and one assist, while Muniz finished with two goals and two assists.
