SPARACO NETS 100TH CAREER GOAL IN LOSS TO EAST STROUDSBURG UNIVERSITY

(4/1/15) Senior midfielder Gina Sparaco* (Freeport, N.Y.) netted her 100th career goal with 22:59 seconds remaining in the second half as the Dominican College women's lacrosse team lost a non-conference game to the visiting Warriors of East Stroudsburg University in a game played this afternoon at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

Sparaco led Dominican with three game goals.
Allison Smithwick* (Commack, N.Y.), Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.) Katie Dascher (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Amber June (Stony Point, N.Y.) all had two goals each in the loss.
Emily Murray* (Oakdale, N.Y.) and Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.) recorded one goal and three assists a-piece.
Goalie Brittany Kiernan (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made a career high 19 saves.
Dominican opened the game with the first two goals, but the Warriors answered right back with a 2-0 run to tie the game with 24:16 left in the first half. The Lady Chargers went on a 3-0 spurt to regain the 5-2 advantage and following a goal by each team, ESU scored three straight goals to re-tie the game at 6-all with seven minutes left in the half.
Sparaco netted her first game goal to put DC ahead, but the Warriors closed out the first half with two unanswered goals for an 8-7 lead at the break.
June tied the score at 8-8 with the first goal of the second half on a free position shot and the Warriors countered with two consecutive scores to rebuild a 10-8 lead. Sparaco netted her 100th career goal off the assist from Murray to bring Dominican within a goal, 10-9.
Later traling 11-9, Dominican used back-to-back goals from Smithwick and Gallagher to knot the game at 11-11 with 14:38 to go, but ESU used a 3-0 run to regain the lead for good en route to the 20-13 victory.
With the loss, Dominican falls to 2-7 on the season.
