WOMEN'S LACROSSE NOTCHES FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

The Lady Chargers Women's Lacrosse team defeated host Nyack College this afternoon on Moseley Field on the campus of Nyack College. With the win, Dominican improves to 1-10 overall and 1-4 in conference.

In the first half the Lady Chargers found themselves trailing the Warriors 5-1 early in the period. Later in the half Dominican trailed 9-5 when Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) scored three consecutive goals to cut the Nyack lead to one and DC fought back to trail 10-9 at the half. In a second half that was back and forth, the Lady Chargers held a late 21-20 advantage. After a Nyack College goal and the game tied at 21, Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.) scored the game winner off a free position shot with 49 seconds remaining in the game.

Junior Attacker Shayne Gallagher led the Lady Chargers in the contest with six goals. Senior Captain Christina Brennan* (Washington Township, N.J.) scored four goals on seven shots and also contributed two assists.

Senior Goalkeeper Brittany Kiernan* (New City, N.Y.) recorded 19 saves throughout the contest.

The Lady Chargers are next in action this Saturday, April 16th at 12 PM as they take on the Eagles of Post University at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
