WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL DOWNS BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (9/13/11) The Dominican College women's volleyball team downed the visiting Deacons of Bloomfield College, 3-0, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the victory Dominican improves to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while Bloomfield falls to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the CACC.

The Lady Chargers wasted no time in the first set, quickly building a 10-5 advantage with Danielle Johnston (Cornwall, NY) having two serving aces. Bloomfield would never get the deficit to below four points in the set as DC closed out the set with a 6-0 run for the 25-13 win.
Set two was tied at 4-all when Dominican went on the offensive with a 7-2 run to claim an 11-6 lead. Bloomfield pulled within one, 12-11, but Dominican answered back with the next seven consecutive points to go up, 19-11 and never looked back en route to the 25-14 set win and 2-0 match lead.
Dominican opened the third set with the first four points and built up a dominating 9-3 lead over the first 12 points of the set. The Deacons would cut the deficit to four points (12-8), but couldn't get any closer as DC cruised to the 25-16 win and 3-0 match victory.
Junior outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led all attackers with eight kills on the night. Randi Garrett (Rockledge, FL) and Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) each added five kills in the win, with Ranger adding a match leading 26 assists. Johnston finished with four service aces, while libero Jordyn Fuller (Keller, TX) led the team with 10 defensive digs.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Thursday night when they host Nyack College in a CACC contest scheduled for 7pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
