WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL RALLIES TO DEFEAT NYACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (9/15/11) The Dominican College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival, Nyack College, 3-2, this evening in a conference match played on Coach Baxter Court in a packed Hennessy Center. With the win, Dominican improves to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in the CACC, while Nyack falls to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

With the win, Dominican improves to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in the CACC, while Nyack falls to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Lady Chargers dropped the first two sets by scores of 21-25 and 22-25 to be down 0-2 in the match. In the third set, Dominican never trailed as they built up a 4-0 lead and cruised to a 25-19 set win.
DC continued on the offensive as they opened the fourth set with a 9-3 run and led by as many as nine points en route to the 25-14 win and tied the match at 2-2 to force the fifth deciding set.
In the final set, Dominican opened up with a 7-2 lead but the Warriors fought back to tie the set at 8-8. Both teams battled back and forth each facing numerous match points, but neither team could finish until freshman Kayla Dexter (Selah, WA) got the game-winning kill for the 17-15 win and 3-2 match victory.
Junior attacker Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led all attackers with 16 kills on the night. Dexter finished with 11 kills, while setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) tallied a match leading 36 assists. Jordyn Fuller* (Keller, TX) recorded 22 digs, while N'Jameh Philip (Monroe, NY) added 15 digs.
Dominican returns to action this weekend as they travel to a non-conference tri-match hosted by Adelphi University. The Lady Chargers will take on Assumption College at 2pm on Saturday and will face the host at 4pm.
