LADY CHARGERS END LOSING STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER NYACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/14/14) The Dominican College women's volleyball team ended a three-match losing streak tonight as they took down Nyack College, 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-20), in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division battle held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

With the victory, Dominican improves to 10-4 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
The Lady Chargers jumped out in the first frame, scoring the first seven out of nine points. The Warriors fought back to cut the lead to 13-11, but a 7-2 DC run extended the lead to 20-13 en route to 25-15 victory.
Dominican started the second set by taking the early 7-3 advantage, but Nyack once again made a come back to later tie the set at 12-12. The Lady Chargers went on an 8-2 tear to regain the 20-14 lead an used back-to-back kills from senior Kayla Dexter* (Selah, Wash.) to close out the 25-16 win and take the 2-0 match lead.
In the final set, the score was tied at 6-all when Dominican scored four out of the next five points to pull ahead 10-7. With the Lady Chargers having the slim 22-20 advantage, a kill from McKenzie John (Lafayette, La.) and two Warrior errors lifted Dominican to the 25-20 win and 3-0 match victory.
John, who currently leads the nation in three different categories (attacks per set, kills per set and points per set), lead all attackers with 18 kills and added nine digs.
Dexter finished with 14 kills and three block assists.
Sister Kera Dexter (Selah, Wash.) had a team leading 21 assists and nine digs, while Amanda Hallstein* (Holtsville, N.Y.) contributed 16 assists and nine digs.
Keely Fink (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) produced a team high 11 defensive digs, while Ashley Kosowicz (Monroe, N.Y.) had nine digs and four kills.
The Lady Chargers will host Concordia College on Friday evening at the Hennessy Center.
