VOLLEYBALL EDGES CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/17/14) The Dominican College women's volleyball team edged the visiting Clippers of Concordia College, 3-2, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division battle held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

With the win Dominican improves to 11-4 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
Concordia led the first set, 8-5 and used a 5-0 run to put some breathing room between them and the Lady Chargers at 16-10. A 5-1 run closed out a 25-19 win for the Clippers.
DC countered in the second set as they used a 7-0 run to claim a 15-8 advantage. Concordia battled back and used a 10-2 run to pull ahead 19-18. Both teams then would trade points until tied at 28-all when a Keely Fink (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) kill and a Kera Dexter (Selah, Wash.) service ace lifted the Lady Chargers to the 30-28 win.
The Lady Chargers opened up the third set and led 13-6. The Clippers battled back and with the set later tied at 19-19, Dominican went on a 4-1 run for the 25-20 win and take a 2-1 match lead.
The Clippers had the momentum to start the fourth set as they scored the first eight out of ten points for the 8-2 lead and later lead, 23-14. The Lady Chargers went on a 7-0 tear to cut the deficit to 23-21. Concordia scored the next two points for the 25-21 victory.
Dominican came out in the final frame and quickly gained a 6-0 lead. Kills from Ashley Joyner (Edgewood, Md.) and McKenzie John (Lafayette, La.) made the score 10-2 and a kill from John and Kayla Dexter* (Selah, Wash.) secured the 15-8 win and the 3-2 match victory.
John led all attackers and posted career highs with the double-double of 28 kills and 25 digs.
Kayla Dexter finished with 11 kills and three block assists, while Fink had nine kills.
Setters Amanda Hallstein* (Holtsville, N.Y.) and Kera Dexter each had 29 assists in the victory, while Hallstein added 19 digs and Dexter had seven kills.
Kayla Rosario (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) contributed 16 digs and 10 digs.
The Lady Chargers will host Wilmington University tomorrow afternoon at the Hennessy Center.
