Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/1/14) The Dominican College women's volleyball team slipped by the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 3-2, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

With the win, Dominican improves to 15-7 overall and 11-6 in conference play.
DC won the first two sets, 25-17 and 28-26 to take the early 2-0 match lead. In the first set, the Lady Chargers never relinquished the lead and led by as many as nine points en route to the win.
The Griffins answered in the second frame where they held 24-22 lead. Three consecutive kills from Kayla Dexter* (Selah, Wash.) and two from McKenzie John (Lafayette, La.) put Dominican at set point, 25-24. Both teams traded points to make the score 26-all, but DC used a kill from John and a service ace from junior Amanda Hallstein* (Holtsville, N.Y.) to secure the 28-26 win.
CHC rallied with a convincing 25-8 third set win and took the fourth, 25-15 to force the decisive fifth set.
Dominican took a 10-6 lead in the finale, but CHC once again fought back to later tie the set at 12-12 and serve for match point, leading 14-13. Following a Lady Charger timeout, a service error re-tied the score at 14-14. A service ace from Keely Fink (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) put DC at match point and John ended the match with a kill for the 16-14 win and 3-2 match victory.
John led all attackers with a career high 37 kills and completed the double-double with 19 digs.
Dexter finished with 11 kills, while her sister Kera Dexter (Selah, Wash.) had team leading 27 assists.
Libero Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) had a match best 27 digs and Hallstein finished with 23 assists and 15 digs.
Fink contributed 19 digs in the win.
Dominican will travel to CACC North Division foe, Nyack College, this coming Wednesday evening.
