LADY CHARGERS OUTLAST HOLY FAMILY
The Dominican College women’s volleyball team defeated the visiting Tigers of Holy Family University in five sets in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center this afternoon.

(9/26/15) The Dominican College women's volleyball team defeated the visiting Tigers of Holy Family University in five sets in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center this afternoon. With the victory, the Lady Chargers improved to 2-13 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Late in the first set Dominican held a 22-18 advantage, but the Tigers fought back to a 23-23 draw. With the set tied at 23, the Lady Chargers would record back-to-back kills to win the first set 25-23.
Holy family would hold the upper hand for the majority of the second set and held an 18 to 10 lead midway through the set. The Lady Chargers managed to cut deficit, but the Tigers would eventually win the set 25-20 after two consecutive kills to tie the match.
Dominican led 23-19 in set three after a kill by junior Kera Dexter (Selah, Wash.). After two points by Holy Family, the Lady Chargers used two ball-handling errors to claim a 25-21 win, and lead 2-1 in the match.
During set four the Lady Chargers would find themselves trailing Holy Family 22-17. After three points including a service ace, Dominican would trail the Tigers by two. Following a timeout, Holy Family would respond with two kills and use a DC attack error to win the set 25-20 and force a fifth set.
After a strong start, Dominican would hold an 8-1 lead. Holy family would battle back and eventually trail DC 13-9. The Tigers would use three errors and a kill to trail by one, 13-12. The Lady Chargers then used an attack error and was awarded a point by the official to win set five 15-12.
Kera Dexter led the Lady Chargers with 15 kills and added 19 digs.
Cortney Yeoman (Glenn Dale, Md.) contributed eleven kills, while Kelly Murphy (Evergreen, Colo.) had ten kills.
Natalia Perez (Toledo, Ohio) had a team high 21 digs, while senior Amanda Hallstein (Holtsville, N.Y.) led the team with 32 assists in the win.
