WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL COMES UP SHORT AGAINST NYACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/11/16) The Dominican College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit and were at match point in the fifth set but were unable to secure the win as they fell to the visiting Warriors of Nyack College, 3-2, tonight in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division battle played on Coach Baxter Court.

(10/11/16) The Dominican College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit and were at match point in the fifth set but were unable to secure the win as they fell to the visiting Warriors of Nyack College, 3-2, tonight in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division battle played on Coach Baxter Court.
Dominican held a 15-10 lead in the first set when the Warriors rallied with a 7-1 run to claim a 17-16 advantage. Three straight DC points put them up, 19-17, but NC used a 3-0 run of their own to take a 20-19 edge. Both teams traded points and were tied, 24-24, when consecutive Lady Charger errors gave them the 26-24 win.
Nyack led 17-14 when Dominican scored the next eight of 10 points to pull in front, 22-19. NC used three consecutive points to knot the score at 22-all and a kill from sophomore Alexa Williams (Los Angeles, Calif.) would put the Lady Chargers at set point, 24-22. A DC service error made the score, 24-23 and a Warrior service error gave the Lady Chargers the 25-23 set win.
The Warriors never trailed in set three and led by as many as 10 points en route to the 25-17 win.
NC led in the fourth set, 15-10, when Dominican charged back with a 9-1 tear to go ahead, 19-16. With the slim 22-21 advantage, the team used three straight errors for the 25-21 set win and force the fifth frame.
DC would lead 12-9 and be at match point twice (14-13 and 15-14), but an attack error and consecutive NC kills gave them the 17-15 win and 3-2 match victory.
Senior Cortney Yeoman (Glenn Dale, Md.) had a career high 22 kills and had a .356 attack percentage to pace the Lady Chargers.
Williams finished with eight kills, while libero Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) had a team high 22 digs.
Kera Dexter* (Selah, Wash.) had the team's only double-double with a night best 37 assists and 11 digs. Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) had five kills and 16 digs.
The Lady Chargers (4-14, 3-6 CACC) will host Bloomfield College this coming Friday night.
