CACC ADDS ESPORTS AS NEW CHAMPIONSHIP SPORT IN FALL 2024
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (9/27/24) The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) is proud to announce that it has added E Sports as its newest championship sport beginning this fall, as announced on Thursday by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara. The CACC is hosting a regular-season schedule and championship event in the games of Super Smash Bros., and Rocket League.
The inaugural seasons in both games got underway this past Tuesday as each game features four conference schools competing. Super Smash Bros., features Bloomfield College, Dominican University, Goldey-Beacom College and Post University. Rocket League features Caldwell University, Dominican, Post and Wilmington University.
"We are excited to be offering championship opportunities to a new group of student-athletes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference," said Commissioner Mara. "The CACC and its member schools believe this inaugural season of E Sports will be the first step in growing the sport to offer more games and opportunities to even more student-athletes in the future. We look forward to crowning first-time champions in both games later this fall."
Both games will feature a six-game regular season for each of the four member schools competing in it. It will be a double round-robin format with each school facing the other three teams twice. The games will be contested on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m., ET.
All four teams in each of the two games will also qualify for the postseason tournament that begins on Tuesday, Nov. 12. Seeding will be based on the final regular-season standings in each game and the semifinals will be conducted on the 12th, followed by the CACC Championship Final in both games being held on Tuesday, Nov. 19. More information about the championship tournament will be released at a later date in October.
