TOP SEEDED CHARGERS SPLIT ON DAY TWO OF CACC TOURNAMENT
New Castle, DE (5/13/11) The top-seeded Chargers of Dominican College split on day two of the 2011 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Tournament being hosted by Wilmington University. DC lost their first game of the day, 3-0, to #2 Wilmington University, but rallied to win the elimination game, 7-0 against #3 Post University.

New Castle, DE (5/13/11) The top-seeded Chargers of Dominican College split on day two of the 2011 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Tournament being hosted by Wilmington University. DC lost their first game of the day, 3-0, to #2 Wilmington University, but rallied to win the elimination game, 7-0 against #3 Post University.
Game One: Despite out hitting the Wildcats, 7-5, the Chargers fell 3-0. The 'Cats scored two runs in the fourth and added one in the sixth in the win.
Christopher Gonzalez (Bronx, NY) led the offense with two hits.
Dustin Javins (Fort Lauderdale, FL) fell to 4-4 on the season with the complete game loss, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and six strikeouts.
Game Two: The offense exploded in the second game as they won their elimination game, 7-0, over Post University.
DC scored two runs in the second as Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) led off the inning as he got hit by-a-pitch and Gonzalez later followed with a one out single through the right side. Marco Moreno (Miami, FL) reached on a fielder's choice and an error that allowed Blake to score and Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ) followed with an RBI single through the right side for the 2-0 lead.
With two outs in the third inning, Blake plated a run on a fielder's choice which brought in Michael Levy, Jr (Salisbury Mill, NY) to go up 3-0.
Dominican tacked on three runs in the fifth inning as Mario Lopez (Anthony, NM) started off the inning with a double to left field and moved to third on a ground out. Blake was hit by-a-pitch and then stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error which allowed Lopez to score. Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) reached on a fielder's choice and a throwing error brought home Blake. Gonzalez followed with an RBI double to left field for the 6-0 lead.
Iglesias hit an RBI single to left field to score Camardella for the 7-0 victory.
Right-handed pitcher Justin Moore (Wantagh, NY) improved to 8-1 with the complete game victory, scattering just four hits.
With the split Dominican stands at 28-16 on the season.
DC will take on #2 Wilmington University in the CACC Championship where the Chargers will need to defeat the Wildcats twice. Game time is slated for 11am.
