BARTUSKA AND ROBINSON NAMED TO 2011 ABCA EAST REGION TEAMS

Orangeburg, NY (5/20/11) Dominican College baseball players, David Bartuska and Dan Robinson, have been named to the 2011 American Baseball Coaches Assocation (ABCA) East All-Region Teams as was announced today. Bartuska was named to the First Team, while Robinson earned Second Team accolades.

Orangeburg, NY (5/20/11) Dominican College baseball players, David Bartuska and Dan Robinson, have been named to the 2011 American Baseball Coaches Assocation (ABCA) East All-Region Teams as was announced today. Bartuska was named to the First Team, while Robinson earned Second Team accolades.

Bartuska, a junior right-handed pitcher who hails from Duryea, PA, led the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and the Chargers in wins after posting an 9-2 record during this season. He was fourth in the conference and leads the team with an 1.59 ERA, tallying 86 strikeouts in 79.1 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .205 against him. During the pre-season, he was selected as a pre-season All-America selection by Baseball America. He was named to the All- CACC First Team and the CACC All-Tournament Team. In 2010, Bartuska was named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II East All-Region Second Team, the CACC All-Tournament Team, All-CACC First Team and the 2010 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II East All-Region Second Team.

Robinson, a senior outfielder from Massapequa, NY, led the Chargers and ranked sixth in the conference this season in hitting, led the team and was third in the CACC in hits and led the team in home runs. He recorded his 200th career hit this season in a victory in the CACC Tournament over the University of the Sciences. He was recently named to the All-CACC First Team, the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) All-East Region Second Team and received the Dominican College Baseball Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Each member of the First Team will be eligible for NCAA DIVISION II All-American consideration, which will be selected on Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Cary, NC in conjunction with the Division II National Championship Tournament. The "Player of the Year" and the "Pitcher of the Year" in our region is guaranteed a spot on one of the three "All-American Teams" selected in Cary.
