The Chargers fall to 1-5 on the season after the loss. The Trojans improve to 10-3 and complete the two-game sweep over Dominican.
Mount Olive jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning. The Trojans added two runs in the third and fourth innings to extend their lead and added one more run in the eighth inning.
The Chargers scored their only run of the game in the third inning when David Knepper (Miami, Fla.) drove in Jean Nunez (New York, N.Y.) on an RBI groundout.
Nunez also added one hit, a stolen base, and a walk. Christian Fils-Aime (North Babylon, N.Y.) finished the game with one hit while Jason Sosa-Rivas (Yonkers, N.Y.), Yorby Vilomar (Bronx, N.Y.), and Ty Gilligan (Ringwood, N.J.) also added one hit each.
JT Stone led the way for Mount Olive with three hits including a double and four RBIs. Cooper George and Dylan Jeffries each added two hits. Jack Anderson added an eighth inning pinch hit solo homer.
The Chargers return to action on Friday for a doubleheader against D'Youville University from the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary, N.C. Game one is scheduled for 11:00 AM and game two will follow at 2:00 PM.
