
BASEBALL DROPS SECOND GAME TO PACE UNIVERSITY

After the loss, the Chargers fall to 1-11 overall on the season. Pace improves to 7-1 overall on the season.
Brendan Turton (Westbury, N.Y.) started on the mound for the Chargers and recorded five strikeouts in five innings pitched but suffered the loss to fall to 0-2 on the season.
Christian Fils-Aime (North Babylon, N.Y.) led the way for the Chargers with three hits including a double and a triple and drove in two RBIs. David Knepper (Miami, Fla.) also added two RBIs while going 2-4 with two runs scored.
Stefano Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) and Ty Gilligan (Ringwood, N.J.) each added two hits including doubles. Jean Nunez (New York, N.Y.) added one RBI and scored one run. Jason Sosa-Rivas (Yonkers, N.Y.) drew three walks.
Pace was led by Mitchell McCabe who went 3-4 with a double, two RBIs, and three runs scored.
Matthew Rinaldi and Hunter Goldstein each added two doubles and two RBIs.
Luke Jacobi and Mason Baronian also added a double and an RBI each. Josh Miller finished 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Nate Carminucci added one hit, one RBI, and one run scored.
Pace scored their first six runs over the first five innings. The Chargers rallied in the top of the sixth inning with five runs to cut the deficit to 6-5.
Libio's RBI-single put the Chargers on the board. After the Chargers added their second run on a balk, David Knepper singled to drive in two runs and cut the lead to 6-4.
Fils-Aime later doubled in a run to pull the Chargers within one run.
The Setters answered with two runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning. The Chargers added one run in the top of the seventh but Pace added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Both teams added one run each in the eighth inning with Fils-Aime driving in his second run of the game with an RBI-triple for the Chargers.
The Chargers threatened in the ninth inning but Pace pitcher Tyler Rodriguez recorded the save.
The Chargers return to action on Sunday, March 12th when they host the College of Staten Island for a non-conference doubleheader at Nyack High School. Game one is scheduled for 12:00 PM and game two will follow at 3:00 PM.
