The Chargers improve to 3-22 overall on the season after the win.
Robert Liriano (Haverstraw, N.Y.) recorded the win on the mound for the Chargers to improve to 1-4 on the season.
Benjamin Avila (Walden, N.Y.) got the scoring started with a two-RBI single up the middle in the first inning for the 2-0 lead. The Chargers extended their lead to 4-0 when they scratched two runs across in the second inning.
The Panthers added three runs in the bottom of the second inning after a passed ball and wild pitch. An RBI-single by Alex Rende cut the Dominican lead to 4-3.
Christian Fils-Aime (North Babylon, N.Y.) earned an RBI-walk before Peter Kiefer (Waterford, Conn.) belted a grand slam to extend the lead to 9-5 to cap off a five-run inning.
Adelphi added three runs over the next two innings after a Greyson Pizzonia homered and Joe Pellegrino doubled in two runs to cut the deficit to three runs.
The Chargers rallied for three runs in the sixth inning including another RBI-single by Avila which gave the Chargers a 12-6 lead.
The Panthers answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning after a Tim Feliz solo homer and a sacrifice fly by Kyle Olsen.
Tyler Richman (Sunrise, Fla.) added an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning after an RBI-double and the Chargers held the Panthers in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.
The Chargers will return to conference play on Saturday when they travel to Bloomfield College to complete the season series with the Bears at 12:00 PM.
