RAMS TAKE TWO FROM CHARGERS BASEBALL
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/23/23) The Dominican University New York baseball team fell to the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University, 9-0 and 10-7, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader in games played at Alumni Field.

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/23/23) The Dominican University New York baseball team fell to the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University, 9-0 and 10-7, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader in games played at Alumni Field.
Following the games Dominican now stands at 10-31 overall and 7-12 in the CACC.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Rams struck for five runs on three hits and two errors. Jefferson added four runs in the fifth for the 9-0 win.
Starter Anthony Leak (Pelham, N.Y.) suffered the loss in four innings of work and collecting nine strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican scored first in the nightcap as first basemen Jason Sosa-Rivas (Yonkers, N.Y.) blasted a three-run home run to right center for the early 3-0 advantage.
The Rams countered in the bottom half of the inning with eight runs on four hits to build an 8-3 advantage. TJU added two runs in the second to increase the advantage to 10-3.
The Chargers added a run in the third as Tyler Gilligan (Ringwood, N.J.) brought home a run as he reached base on a Ram fielding error.
In the top of the seventh Dominican added three runs on four hits. Davin Keddell-Tuckey (Troy, N.Y.) scored a run on a sacrifice fly ball to left field. Later Gilligan produced a run-scoring single to centerfield and Sosa-Rivas then hit a double and an error on the play allowed a run to come home for the final 10-3 score.
Sosa-Rivas and Gilligan each had two hits in the win, while Sosa-Rivas tallied three RBIs.
Starter Williams Tavarez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took the loss.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to the University of Bridgeport.
