
CHARGERS TAKE NON-CONFERENCE SEASON SERIES FROM STAC

The Chargers sweep the two-game non-conference series over STAC and improve to 12-31 overall. STAC falls to 18-22 overall after the loss.
The Chargers pounded 15 hits with Ty Gilligan (Ringwood, N.J.) leading the way with three hits including two doubles and drove in two RBIs. Tyler Richman (Sunrise, Fla.) finished with two hits and scored two runs.
Benjamin Avila (Walden, N.Y.) and David Knepper (Miami, Fla.) each finished with two hits. Stefano Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) went 2-4 with two RBIs. Davin Keddell-Tuckey (Troy, N.Y.) and Phil Whitney (Newark, N.J.) each drove in one RBI.
Peter Kiefer (Waterford, Conn.) went 1-3 in the win with an RBI-double.
Freshman John Stoliker (Guilderland, N.Y.) started on the mound for the Chargers and threw a solid six innings with seven strikeouts and surrendered two runs for his first career win. Noel Vasquez (Washington Heights, N.Y.) threw three innings in relief to help the Chargers solidify the win.
The Chargers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning including a two-run double by Gilligan. The Chargers extended the lead to 4-0 in the second inning.
A sac fly by Nick O'Connor in the third inning put STAC on the board. Andrew Guerra cut the Dominican lead to 4-2 after an RBI-single in the fifth inning.
Libio's two-RBI single extended the lead to 6-2 in the bottom of the fifth and Kiefer's RBI-double gave the Chargers a 7-2 lead two innings later.
STAC added two runs in the ninth inning but Vasquez held the Spartans to four runs and the Chargers secured the win.
Dominican returns to conference play tomorrow with a CACC north division doubleheader at Clover Stadium beginning at 1:00 PM.
