DOMINICAN CONCLUDES SEASON SERIES WITH WIN OVER GOLDEN FALCONS
Pomona, N.Y. (5/1/23) The Dominican University New York baseball team wrapped up their season series with Felician University by defeating the Golden Falcons, 4-3, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played today at Clover Stadium.

With the win the Chargers improve to 14-32 overall and 10-13 in conference play.
Dominican struck for two runs in the bottom of the first as left fielder Tyler Richman (Sunrise, Fla.) singled up-the-middle and designated hitter Tyler Gilligan (Ringwood, N.J.) followed with a single through the right side. A Golden Falcon fielding error allowed Richman to come around to score and Gilligan to end up on the third base.
An RBI groundout off the bat of first basemen Jason Sosa-Rivas (Yonkers, N.Y.) brought home Gilligan and lift the Chargers to a 2-0 advantage.
Felician tied the game in their half of the fifth inning with two runs on one hit and one error. Dominican got the run back in the bottom stanza as David Knepper (Miami, Fla.) got on base with a bunt single and was able to move to second on a Felician throwing error. He moved to third on a wild pitch and later scored on another wild pitch to regain a 3-2 lead.
The Golden Falcons countered in the sixth with a two out solo home run over the left field fence to re-tie the score at 3-3.
In the bottom of the sixth inning catcher Benjamin Avila (Walden, N.Y.) led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on the sacrifice bunt by Jean Nunez (New York, N.Y.). A two-out run scoring single to left center field off the bat of centerfielder Christian Fils-Aime (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored Avila and lifted the Chargers to the 4-3 lead.
Reliever Robert Liriano (Haverstraw, N.Y.) came in for the seventh and retired the first two batters. Following an infield single, Liriano got the next batter to fly out to centerfield to pick up his second save of the season.
Knepper went 2-2 in the contest.
Starter Anthony Leak (Pelham, N.Y.) earned the win in six innings of work, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and three strikeouts.
The Chargers return to action on Wednesday evening when the conclude the regular season by hosting Wilmington University in a CACC doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 4:30 pm at Clover Stadium.
